• outorou shingo is his real, legal name, and matt engarde is his stage name. his mother is a famous state prosecutor in new york, thus the need to seperate his career from hers. his name isn’t secret, it’s easily googleable, but he prefers matt socially, and introduces himself that way.
• he served five years and almost two months in prison before his retrial. he was declared mentally unfit, as well as his lawyer proving his original conviction was handed down by a biased court after his defense attorney turned on him. matt was released on parole, under court order to seek therapy. he does to this day, although a diagnosis of “mental soundness” was publicly released by his PR team.
